Rest & Recovery
How Breaks and Rests restore HP and WP, clear conditions, and what happens when you push past 24 hours awake.
Recovery in ØMEN: After Dragons comes from time spent resting. A short pause heals you at the same rates as a full night's sleep but never counts as a Rest; a true Rest of eight hours or more completes a full recovery cycle and is what most once-per-rest abilities key off. Resting also clears the conditions that wear a character down, and staying awake too long carries real penalties. The rates below are driven by your Resolve and Focus bonuses.
Breaks and Rests
| Period | Duration | Counts as a Rest? |
|---|---|---|
| Break | 1–7 hours | No - HP and WP recover at the rest rates, but the period is not a Rest |
| Rest | Minimum 8 hours (best in multiples of 2) | Yes - a full rest cycle |
Recovery Rates
- HP recovery: RES bonus per hour of rest.
- WP recovery: FCS bonus per 2 hours of rest.
Clearing Conditions
- Exhausted / Fatigued: reduce by 1 level per 4 hours of rest.
- Dying: reduce by 1 level per full day rested with medical attention.
Staying Awake Too Long
Pushing past a full day without sleep takes a toll:
- After 24 hours awake, make a RES Save versus the number of hours. On a failure you become Exhausted, and you retest each hour until you rest.
- For every hour awake past 24, you also take WP damage equal to your level.
