Pinnacles
Capstone-tier abilities unlocked at Level 5, paid for not only in HP and WP but in permanent attribute loss.
Pinnacles are the capstone abilities of ØMEN: After Dragons - a single defining power tied to each specialization. Every class has three Pinnacles, one per spec, for thirty in total. What sets them apart from any other ability is their cost: activating a Pinnacle drains a heavy amount of HP or WP and then permanently lowers one of your attribute bonuses, power you must grind back through SP investment. They are deliberately rare, deliberately expensive, and built to feel momentous.
How Pinnacles Work
- Acquisition: A Pinnacle is a Level 5 pick, typically costing 50 SP.
- Requirement: Each Pinnacle requires a minimum of 10 in the relevant bonus (for example, RES Bonus 10 for the Fighter's Stalwart Guardian).
- Cost to use: A heavy HP or WP cost, plus a permanent attribute bonus cost that applies after the effect ends. The lost bonus must be earned back through SP investment.
- Upgrades: Each Pinnacle can be upgraded at Level 7 and Level 9, each upgrade costing additional SP.
- Frequency: Most Pinnacles activate once per rest.
The permanent attribute-loss cost is what makes Pinnacles distinctive - you pay in lasting power and must rebuild it afterward.
Example: Stalwart Guardian (Fighter - Frontline)
- Acquisition: 50 SP.
- Activation: Free Action.
- Cost to use: 50 WP + 2 RES Bonus (the RES loss applies after the effect ends; you must re-invest SP to restore RES to its previous value).
- Requirement: RES Bonus 10.
- Effect: Until the start of the next round, all damage to allies within 5 meters is redirected to you, and you take half damage from those redirected attacks.
